I didn’t know what to expect when I pulled up in front of St. Andrew’s Episcopal church this morning. As I walked into the back of the sanctuary I couldn’t help but smile instantly. Dogs were sticking out of the pews, a cat lounged in his owners lap, and a bunny munched on some food. It was the church’s annual blessing of the animals service, and many furry friends, and even some other loved creatures joined their owners.
The service circled around the idea of pets and their families before the actually blessing. Father Wall addressed each animal by his name as they were blessed in the front of the church.
For some creatures the blessing was an adventure full of things to sniff and look at, for others, like Bandit, it was exhausting and napping under the pews was the best place to relax.
