Festing

The second week in July is always a big time here in State College, it’s Fest week!  With multiple art festivals throughout the county thousands of people come to town.  Thursday and Friday I covered the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts.  Arts Fest weaves through downtown State College and the Penn State Campus with hundreds of art vendors, several music venues, and kids fun like the “buckets.”

Saturday afternoon I visited the People’s Choice Festival.  This year was the 20th Anniversary for the event that is in Boalsburg on the grounds of the Pennsylvania Military Museum.  All the artist featured are from Pennsylvania.

After browsing People’s Choice I stopped in town for Arts Fest.  As I headed toward the Italian street painting I got distracted by a breakdancer along College Avenue with Penn State’s Old Main in the background.

Sunday was the closing day for both festivals and despite the off and on showers the streets were crowded.

The worst of the rain hit during the set for RT and the Earthtones, the last show on the Shell stage on Old Main lawn.  Listeners cheered for the rain and danced as it came down.

360 days to look forward to next year’s festivals!
