Hoops for Hope

Today State College Best Buddies hosted their first annual Hoops for Hope.  The event featured the Penn State wheelchair basketball team as they raised money for the wounded warriors project, along with awareness for wounded warriors, and those with disabilities.

A State High graduate, who recently lost his legs in Afghanistan, was the honored attendee as he tossed the basketball into the air to kick off the game.  He joked he wasn’t good at basketball when he had legs, that he wouldn’t be that good at it now that he didn’t, but enjoyed the camaraderie of other wounded warriors who played.

It was an uplifting event to cover as the crowded cheered for each basket and the players glided up and down the court.
