I haven’t exactly caught up on sleep yet from our trip to Jacksonville for the bowl game but am back in the swing of things at work. Tonight was Penn State men’s hockey win over Minnesota.
Penn State battled Wisconsin in their second to last weekend in Pegula. With students on spring break the student section was filled with fans that didn’t have the energy as high as usual. Last night the Nittany Lions lost, 4-2.
This evening’s game kept fans on the edge of their seats with the score tied in the third. Then with just seconds left in overtime the badgers scored to win, 3-2.
Penn State hockey had an intense series with Michigan State this weekend at Pegula Ice Arena. Friday nights game went into a shoot out, the first I have covered. After confusion on which end each team would shoot on I settled to photograph the Penn State players as they skated towards me, and use a long lens across the ice as the goalie made saves to the cheers of the student section. After seven rounds the Spartans got the win.
Tonight’s hockey game was full of intensity after Boston College crushed Penn State less than a month ago. In addition it was THON night at the game with local THON families being introduced. And the most memorable moment of the night came unexpectedly when player David Glen received a standing ovation from the crowd for taking several games off to donate bone marrow. The donation will occur later this week but Glen was unable to play in the game as he prepares for the procedure.
