This morning when I woke up the several inches of snow from last night was glistening and the temperatures were hovering in the twenties. I bundled up for a cold day of outdoor assignments.
I started the day at Sayer Lake at Bald Eagle State park where brave souls ran into the frigid waters to raise money for the YMCA.
Some sprinted into the water…
Others slowly took their time…
And one, a local judge, took his time and floated for a bit.
No matter what approach the plungers took most had the same shocked expression as they bolted for land to warm towels and clothes.
From the lake I headed to the Pennsylvania Military museum for a Pearl Harbor remembrance service. The small group gathered under guns from a battleship that still has bullet holes from the historic day 72 years ago.
I wrapped up my day with the sounds of jingle bells and the clip clop of horse feet at Boalsburg Hometown Christmas. A breakfast with Santa, carriage rides, carols and more filled the hearts of the small town.
Now it’s time for me to go warm up in hopes of feeling my toes again!
