Earlier this week I heard that the tulips at the Penn State Arboretum were in full bloom. I swung by to see for myself and snapped some photos as I smelled the fresh blooms. When I needed a location to take a portrait of a local mom who was receiving her masters for a Mother’s Day feature, I knew the place to go.
When I heard I’d be covering the concrete canoe competition I didn’t think those two words belonged together. Engineering students from colleges around the east coast proved me wrong as they paddled through the water in their designed canoes. Each college had a theme and unique canoe to adjust it’s speed and maneuverability.
The Penn State Master Gardeners are a group of plant teachers and lovers who not only work in their personal gardens, but help the community. Tonight they prepped thousands of seedlings to be sold at their native plant sale next month. I learned all sorts of tips and key parts of keeping Centre County beautiful and eco happy as they group laughed and got messy.
